Two of Gambia’s best sprinters, Adama Jammeh and Gina will compete in the Etamps International Meeting in France on the 28th April, 2017.
Adama Jammeh would be competing in the 200 meters, while Gina Bass is likely to compete for either the 100 meters or 200 meters.
Speaking to The Observer Sports from his base in Dakar, Jammeh said, they were fully prepared for the competition in France where they would be hoping to improve on their timing. “This is our first international competition in 2017.”
Both Adama Jammeh and Gina Bass are among the nominees for the Best Local-based Athlete category for the 2017 National Sports Award, organized by the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG).
The duo will also participate in the France inter-club competition on 7th May, before they proceed to Azerbaijan for the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku next month. “I am hoping to come home with a medal in 200mteters from the Games. This is the second time I will be representing The Gambia in the Islamic Games- the first in 2013 in Indonesia,” Jammeh told Observer Sports.
