President Jammeh: I Am Not on Election Campaign

The Gambian leader and chairman of the ruling Alliance for Patritic Re-Orientation and Construction (APRC) Party has said that he is not on an election campaign but it is up to Gambians to decide between progress and retrogress.

president-jammehHis Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa, who was addressing multitude of supporters at a meeting in Farafenni, said he has done what is expected of him by the grace of Almighty Allah on whom his Presidency lies.

President Jammeh also used the Farafenni meeting to preach for a peaceful and orderly campaign and election, while urging people to desist from any form of violence.

According to him, people can vote for who they want but he is not going to compromise with the peace and security of the country.

He warned against any person or a group of people that attempts to destabilize the enviable peace and harmony the country is known for.

president-jammeh-2On tribalism, The Gambian leader strongly condemned the act, describing it as satanic and ungodly, thus urging people to be mindful of such.

He advised Gambians to continue to be devoted Muslims and Christians. “Let us seek forgiveness from Allah and repent. What you do in this world is what you will reap hereafter,” he stated, calling on people to worship Allah and be God-fearing.

He urged men to treat women like human beings and not otherwise.

Speaking earlier, Balla Garba Jahumpa alias Action Man, the Minister of Works and Transportation who is also the APRC Campaign Manager, said President Jammeh is not a politician, but a servant of the people, who is brought by Allah to develop the country for the benefit of all.

According to him, President Jammeh is ever committed and ready to make The Gambia the best country in the world.

For her part, Dr. Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, said President Jammeh is not campaigning, saying the unprecedented development that he brought in the country will campaign for him.

She reminded the gathering that there was no Senior School in NBR before 1994, but today there are 19 Senior Schools in the region.

president-jammeh-3“President Jammeh has delivered on the promises he gave to the people of NBR and more are coming,” Minister Faye added.

Mama Fatima Singhateh, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, who is also the NBR APRC liaison officer, informed the meeting that President Jammeh has great love for the people of the North Bank Region.

She said President Jammeh has transformed the region from education to health, good road networks and electricity.

Alhaji Yankuba Colley, APRC General Mobiliser, warned against double standards, saying they will not encourage any form of cross-carpeting when the party is declared winner after the election.
